The BJP government in Rajasthan on Wednesday decided to amend the State Police Subordinate Services Rules, 1989, allowing 33% reservation for women in the police force. The state Cabinet took the decision at its meeting held here to fulfil the BJP's promise of increasing women's representation in its manifesto for the 2023 assembly elections.

The cabinet meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma. Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel said after the meeting that the police will be able to work with more sensitivity in matters related to women, while this decision will also provide more employment opportunities to women. Jogaram Patel said that the paper leak case in the Sub Inspector Recruitment Examination 2021 was also discussed in the cabinet.
