What is a detonator?

Detonator is an explosive. It makes a loud noise like a firecracker. The railways themselves usually set these detonators during winter fog. So that the emergency train can be stopped before the scheduled time. It looks like a cash button. Whenever a train passes over it, there is a bang and a loud noise. But miscreants also use it to target railways.
