Kolkata : Bengali film actress Mimi Chakraborty has resigned from the post of Lok Sabha member from Jadavpur. After meeting Chief Minister and Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee in the Bengal Assembly, he announced his resignation from the post of MP.
Mimi Chakraborty herself talked about resignation outside the Bengal Assembly. Mimi said that she does not want to become a candidate in the Lok Sabha elections.
On Thursday, when Mamata was speaking in the Assembly, Mimi reached her office. After some time, two star Trinamool MLAs Soham Chakraborty and June Mallya also entered the Chief Minister's office. After finishing his speech, the Chief Minister went to his room. After this the Chief Minister held a meeting with Mimi and others.

After coming out of the Chief Minister's office, Mimi said that she has submitted her resignation from the post of MP to the Chief Minister but the Chief Minister has not yet accepted the resignation. Mimi also said that if the Chief Minister accepts the resignation, she will go to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha and submit her resignation.
Won elections from Jadavpur seat
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Trinamool had fielded Mimi Chakraborty from Jadavpur. In this situation, he won by defeating Anupam Hazra of BJP. Mimi Chakraborty got 6,88,472 votes, while BJP candidate Anupam Hazra got 3,93,233 votes.
Two standing committees of Parliament have already resigned
Recently Mimi had resigned from the membership of two standing committees of Parliament. She was a member of the Joint Committee of Parliament on Industrial Affairs and the Union Ministry of Power and New and Renewable Energy. He has resigned from both these posts.
