CAS has given a big decision on Vinesh Phogat case. After being disqualified in Paris Olympics, Vinesh had filed an appeal in International Council of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for being awarded silver medal, on which the decision has now come. In fact, CAS has rejected Vinesh's appeal. With this, the dream of Indian female wrestler to win an Olympic medal has been shattered.

Indian female wrestler Vinesh Phogat was disqualified for the 50 kg freestyle gold medal match at the Paris Olympics 2024 due to being 100 grams overweight. After this decision, while the Indian Olympic Association strongly objected, Vinesh also looked very disappointed. Regarding this decision, Vinesh Phogat had appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) that she should be given at least a silver medal, on which CAS has now taken a decision and rejected Vinesh Phogat's appeal and refused to give her a silver medal.

Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President PT Usha has expressed disappointment over this decision of CAS. The IOA believes that there should be a thorough investigation into the complete disqualification of an athlete for weight violation on the second day of two days. The legal representatives of the Indian side had properly presented the case before the CAS. The IOA said in its statement, “Even after the CAS decision, the IOA stands in full support of Phogat and is exploring other legal options. The IOA is committed to ensuring that Vinesh's case is heard. The IOA will continue to advocate for justice and fairness in sports, ensuring that the rights and dignity of athletes and all those involved in sports are upheld at all times.”

When Vinesh Phogat booked her place in the gold medal match at the Paris Olympics 2024, she became the first Indian woman wrestler to make it to a wrestling final in Olympic history. However, when her weight was measured on the morning of the medal match, it was found to be 100 grams more than the prescribed limit, due to which the Indian wrestler was disqualified. Disappointed by this, Vinesh said goodbye to wrestling.
