Big blow to Gujarat Titans, Mohammed Shami out of IPL 2024

Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami will not be able to play IPL this year. He will go to UK to get his ankle injury repaired. He took injections in London, but they had no effect on his body. Due to which now he will have to undergo surgery. Shami plays for Gujarat Titans in IPL. According to the new agency, after the surgery he will be fit by November this year.

According to the information received, Shami had gone to London in the last week of January. Where he took special injections for his ankle. Doctors told him that he could start running after 3 weeks. If they feel good, they can start bowling along with running. A BCCI official told the news agency that the injection did not show much effect as expected. In such a situation, Shami was left with no option other than surgery. He will go to UK in a few days to undergo surgery. In such a situation, one cannot even think of playing IPL.

It is being told that after the surgery, Shami will not be able to play IPL as well as T20 World Cup. It is also difficult for him to be fit for the Bangladesh and New Zealand series to be held in September-October. However, BCCI is hopeful that Shami can be a part of the Test series against Australia at the end of the year. After the surgery, Shami will have to rest for about 3 to 4 months. After this they will start practicing and will be able to play matches only after getting fitness clearance from NCA. This may take 6 to 8 months.

Let us tell you that Mohammed Shami played the ODI World Cup in October and November last year despite injury. He took maximum 24 wickets in 7 matches of the tournament. With this he became the first Indian bowler to take more than 50 wickets in the World Cup. Shami was recently honored with the Arjuna Award. Shami has taken 229 Test, 195 ODI and 24 T20 wickets in his decade-long career.
