Amidst the Lok Sabha elections, Congress is facing continuous setbacks in Uttarakhand. Another big leader of Congress has left Congress. Former cabinet minister Dinesh Aggarwal, who worked for Congress for decades in Uttarakhand, has resigned from Congress.
Resigned from primary membership of Congress Party on Saturday
Dinesh Aggarwal's name was included in the list of star campaigners of Congress. There are speculations that Dinesh Aggarwal may soon join BJP. Congress's star campaigner former cabinet minister Dinesh Aggarwal has left the Congress. On Saturday 7 April, he resigned from the primary membership of the party. He has submitted his resignation to State President Karan Mahara.
About Dinesh Aggarwal's political journey
Dinesh Aggarwal contested the elections from Dehradun Assembly seat of Uttar Pradesh in 1993 and 1996, but lost to Harbans Kapoor. After the formation of the state, he defeated Nityananda Swami from Lakshman Chowk seat in two consecutive elections from 2002 to 2007. Then in 2012, he became MLA by defeating Prakash Dhyani from Dharampur assembly seat. In the 2017 elections, he lost to BJP's Vinod Chamoli.
Dinesh Aggarwal lost the mayor's election in 2018.
Dinesh Aggarwal had also lost the election of Municipal Corporation Mayor in 2018. After the defeat, Dinesh Aggarwal remained in the party, but his role was not very influential. For the last few days, their rebellious voices had started being heard. After this, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, former state president Pritam Singh, party state president Karan Mahara tried hard to convince him, but Dinesh Aggarwal was very angry with the Congress.
