Big announcement of Tamil Nadu government: Newborns born in government hospitals will get gold rings, work order of 1.28 lakh rings issued.

The State Government of Tamil Nadu has launched a historic and unique initiative to promote public welfare and mother-child welfare. Newborn babies born in government hospitals of the state will be given a pure gold ring as a gift from the government. To implement this ambitious plan, the administration has issued an official work order to prepare 1.28 lakh gold rings. This step of the government is being discussed all around and is being considered as a big boost towards strengthening the public health system.

The main goal is to promote institutional delivery in government hospitals.

The primary objective of the government behind this scheme is to increase the rate of institutional delivery in the state to 100 percent and bring the maternal-child mortality rate to the lowest level. This decision has been taken to attract pregnant women from rural, economically weaker and middle class families to government primary health centres, district hospitals and medical college hospitals equipped with better facilities by saving them from the expensive expenses of private hospitals. With this, pregnant women will be able to get timely complete antenatal check-up (ANC) and high level medical care.

Strict instructions for manufacturing and quality of 1.28 lakh gold rings

As per the work order issued by the government, purity and quality standards will be strictly followed in the manufacturing of all these gold rings. The weight and purity (Carat/Hallmark) of each ring will be based on pre-determined standards so that they remain completely safe and comfortable for the delicate fingers of newborn babies. It will be directly linked to the database of birth records and Janani Suraksha Yojana in hospitals to keep the supply chain and distribution system transparent.

Special kits and gifts will be handed over to mothers immediately after delivery

Under the scheme, this gold ring will be presented to the parents in a dignified manner by the hospital administration at the time of discharge after safe delivery in a government hospital. Apart from this, ‘Amma Baby Care Kit’ or ‘Dr. This new gift will be combined with nutrition and economic support schemes like ‘Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Benefit Scheme’. This will not only provide financial relief to poor families, but will also make the celebration of the arrival of their newborn special.

Tamil Nadu leading in social security and public welfare schemes

Tamil Nadu has always been a leader in the country for its unique social welfare schemes and strong health infrastructure. After the mid-day meal and breakfast scheme for school children, free bus travel for women and monthly financial assistance, the decision to give gold rings for newborns takes the state’s welfare policies to a new level. Health experts believe that with this scheme, people even in remote villages will prefer to deliver in government hospitals under the supervision of trained doctors rather than taking the risk of delivery at home.
