Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024: In view of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, a shocking report has come out. Prominent leader of Maratha reservation movement Manoj Jarange Patil has decided not to contest the elections. Earlier he had announced to field Maratha candidates on many assembly seats, but now he has made it clear that he will neither support any party nor field his own candidates. This decision has created an uproar in political circles.
'We are not contesting elections'
Manoj Jarang Patil appealed to his supporters to be active in the election process, but not to support any candidate or party. He said, 'We are not contesting elections, but we want you people to decide for yourself who to defeat and who to win.'
Earlier, Manoj Jarang Patil had announced to field candidates on many seats for the Maratha community. On Sunday, he also talked about supporting his candidates on Parvati and Daud assembly seats. However, now he has changed his mind and will not field any candidate. This change is important from the political point of view as it reduces the possibility of division of votes of the Maratha community.
In the last elections, Mahayuti had to face defeat in Marathwada. In the 2019 assembly elections, out of 46 seats in Marathwada, BJP won 16, Shiv Sena 12, Congress 8 and NCP 8. While other parties got 2 seats. This time if Maratha votes remain united then the situation may be better for Mahavikas Aghadi.
This issue may prove important in the elections
More than 23 percent of Maharashtra's population belongs to the Maratha community, this community plays an important role in elections. According to a recent survey, 23% people said Maratha reservation was the biggest election issue. Whereas 12.2 percent people considered the work of PM Modi as an important issue and 8.2 percent people considered the condition of government hospitals as an important issue. It is clear from these figures that issues like Maratha reservation can prove to be decisive in the elections.
Voting will take place on November 20
Voting for Maharashtra Assembly elections will be held on November 20 and the election results will be declared on November 23. Now it will be interesting to see how the election results will change for the Maratha community. Will they convey their displeasure to the government through votes or stand in favor of the government?
