President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump paid their respects before the Last Post was played on the bugle when soldiers and marines from the three armed forces presented arms and joined in the inmar-arms. After the dignitaries paid their tributes, common people lined up and laid bouquets of flowers one after the other along with small US national flags.
At that point the atmosphere naturally became serious and sad.
It is noteworthy that during the tribute, Biden wore Trump's green hat and said that it reflects unity.
