BHU mountaineering team returned from Mount Yunam expedition, team welcomed in the campus

Varanasi, July 08 (HS). A 14-member team of students of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Mountaineering Center has returned to the university after successfully completing the Mount Unam expedition. On Monday, the team was welcomed at the University Mountaineering Center. Dean of Students and Center in-charge Prof. Anil Kumar Singh congratulated the team on their successful return. Dean of Students Prof. Anupam Kumar Nema himself flagged off the team for the expedition on June 24. The team started its climbing journey from Manali in Himachal Pradesh under the leadership of the center's trainers Balram Yadav and Shivnarayan Yadav. Trainer Balram Yadav said that our team had set out to climb Mount Unam.

Whose height is about 6150 meters (20300 feet) above sea level, this height is undoubtedly a big target for any trainee mountaineer. Still, our team faced every challenge and successfully climbed to the summit camp of Mount Unam which is located at 5200 meters. The extreme weather of Trans Himalaya is also known as Cold Desert. The oxygen level here is very low. Surviving here is also a very challenging task, here most of the members of our team had to face acute mountain sickness.

Due to which the team had to cross many waterfalls and snowy roads to reach the height of 5 thousand 200 meters. Considering it as the highest height, our team decided to hoist the flag there. If seen, such a height matters for any trainee mountaineer for the first time. The director told that this team had prepared tirelessly for two months for this expedition. The team included Jignesh Patel, Dennis, Pritam Singh, former student Abhinav Pandey, Vishal Agarwal, Leader- Aman Kumar, Deputy Leader- Shrishti Shri, Quarter Master- Ankit Kumar, Khushi Bharti, Medical Officer- Jahnavi Shahi, Information Officer- Anchita Arora, Equipment Officer- Udayveer Yadav, Luggage Officer- Himanshu Ranjan and Shivangi Sharan, Transport Officer- Raghu Prakash, Chitranshi Saran, Recreation Officer- Tinku Kumhar.
