Bhopal: RGPV Vice Chancellor resigns amid allegations of fraud in transactions worth crores

Bhopal, March 6 (HS). After the irregularities in transactions worth crores of rupees in Rajiv Gandhi Technological University (RGPV) were exposed, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Sunil Kumar reached Raj Bhavan on Wednesday and tendered his resignation. Along with this, all the accounts of the university have also been seized. The government had already given indications about removing the Vice Chancellor.

In fact, two days ago, after a case of irregularities in transactions worth crores of rupees came to light in RGPV, an FIR was registered against five people including the Vice Chancellor and the Registrar. At the same time, the state level committee has been entrusted with the responsibility of investigation. In this matter, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) had staged a protest in the university. After this, the government took the matter seriously and constituted an inquiry committee. FIR was registered only on the basis of the report of the inquiry committee.

ABVP has alleged irregularities worth crores of rupees in the university. The matter is still under investigation. However, the three-member investigation report has revealed transfer of Rs 19.48 crore to personal accounts. In this case, an FIR was registered against the Vice Chancellor, former Registrar, Dalit Union Suhagpur and five other people. With whose signature the check has been signed and the amount has been transferred to personal accounts.

Except the salary account, the university administration has frozen all other accounts after irregularities came to light. Now the entire matter is being investigated. Now investigation has also revealed that the number of FD made in Pipariya branch of the university and Katara Hills branch of Bhopal is the same. There is a possibility of the FD being fake. No complete record of the university's bank accounts and its assets has been found. However, all this is still under investigation.

Gandhi Nagar police station in-charge Praveen Tripathi said that some documents have been seized in the RGPV case. In this case, notice will be given to the accused for questioning. Only after this the arrest will be made. He said that it is a matter of economic transaction. Therefore inquiries will be made.
