Bhopal: Public awareness program held in National Park Van Vihar on World Environment Day

Bhopal, 05 June (HS). On World Environment Day, a cleanliness drive was launched in Bhopal's national park Van Vihar on Wednesday with the aim of creating awareness about the environment among the people. In the drive, the officials/employees of Van Vihar informed the tourists about the ill-effects of polythene and advised them not to use polythene. Also, under Shramdaan, the garbage around the main road in Van Vihar was collected and made garbage-free. This year, the main theme of World Environment Day is to spread the message in the society on 'land restoration, desertification and drought tolerance'. The tourists who came to visit Van Vihar and the employees present were addressed on this subject by senior officials.

Annigiri, Additional Principal Chief Forest Conservator (Administration-2) Kamalika Mohanta, Additional Principal Chief Forest Conservator (Mool Management) H.S. Mohanta, Forest Conservator Rakhi Nanda, Divisional Forest Officer Alok Pathak, Van Vihar Director Meena Awadheshkumar Shivkumar, Assistant Director Sunil Kumar Sinha and other officers/employees participated in the program.

Assistant Director Sunil Kumar Sinha threw light on the subject matter of the program and conducted the program. Also, the people present were sworn in to protect the environment and not spread pollution.

In the program, T-shirts were given as gifts to all the officers/employees who participated in the Shramdaan. Plantation was done by the center in-charge and the working employees at the Vulture Conservation and Promotion Center, Kerwa. At the end of the program, Van Vihar Director Meena Awadheshkumar Shivkumar presented mementos to all the officers.
