Bhopal, July 17 (HS). The mourning festival of the Muslim community, Moharram, was celebrated with simplicity across the state on Wednesday in memory of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain and his followers. Muslim devotees prayed for peace and harmony by offering Ashura prayers. Along with this, a procession of Tazia was taken out in many cities of the state and it was cooled in Karbala.

A procession was taken out on the occasion of Moharram in Bhopal on Wednesday evening. During this, the battle of Karbala was narrated in the speech. The echo of Ya Hussain-Ya Hussain was heard in the mourning procession. With hundreds of tazias, burraqs, sawaris, Islamic flags, this procession passed through many areas of the city and reached Karbala on VIP Road.

The first mourning procession started from Fatehgarh and reached Karbala via Moti Masjid crossing. Apart from this, four other big processions reached Peer Gate area via different areas. A large number of people participated in the procession taken out by the All India Muslim Festival Committee. Due to this, traffic was also diverted. Entry of heavy vehicles was completely banned in many areas.

It is noteworthy that the two major communities of the Muslim religion, Shia and Sunni, consider Hazrat Muhammad Sahib to be the last prophet. The first month of the Islamic calendar is called Muharram. The festival of mourning is celebrated on its 10th date, i.e. 10th Muharram, because on the tenth day of Muharram, Hazrat Ali's son Hussain and his companions were killed in the battle of Karbala. Since then, people of the Shia community celebrate Muharram.
