Bhopal, 17 August (HS). On Monday, on the occasion of Rakshabandhan in the capital Bhopal, the 'city government' will give the gift of free travel in city buses to sisters. Women will be able to travel for free in buses from 6 am to 9 pm. The proposal has been approved in MIC (Mayor in Council). Orders will also be issued regarding this. Bhopal City Link Limited operates the buses.
Mayor Malti Rai said that every year on Rakshabandhan, sisters have to go from one place to another to tie Rakhi to their brothers. Sisters are given gifts by the Municipal Corporation. This time too this gift will be given. MIC has approved this proposal. Let us tell you that 368 city buses run on 25 routes in Bhopal. Out of these, 140 buses have been closed for the last one month. In such a situation, women will be able to travel in the remaining 228 buses on Monday, 19 August.
These buses cover all areas of the city. They run from Chirayu Hospital near Bairagarh to most of the urban areas including Avadhpuri, New Market, Ayodhya Bypass, Karond, MP Nagar, Misrod, Mandideep, Bhojpur, Hoshangabad Road, Katara Hills, Bairagarh Chichli, Kolar Road, Gandhinagar, Bangarasia, Raisen Road, Lambakheda, Nariyalkheda, Bhauri. More than 1.5 lakh people travel in city buses in Bhopal in a day. 40 percent of them, i.e., about 60 thousand, are female passengers. On the day of Raksha Bandhan, this number can reach 70 thousand. Apart from working people, students also travel by buses. They pay a minimum of 7 and a maximum of 42 rupees as fare.
