Ranchi, August 21 (HS). A mixed effect of Bharat Bandh was seen in the capital Ranchi. Everything was going on normally since morning. As the day progressed, the bandh supporters came out on the streets under the banner of Bhim Army, CPI, CPI ML, JMM, RJD, Adivasi Chhatra Sangh, Jharkhand State Student Union and closed shops and also blocked the road. Protests were done by burning tyres at some places including Harmu. People had to face trouble due to this. People had trouble going to their workplace. The operation of public transport was less as compared to other days.
According to the information received from Khadgarha bus stand located at Kantatoli, long distance vehicles did not run during the day. Private schools including government schools remained closed. Talking about the capital Ranchi, the movement of vehicles on Wednesday was slightly less than on normal days. Shops remained open from Kokar to Lalpur. Vegetable market and fish and chicken shops of Distillery Bridge remained open. More crowd was seen than other days while the effect of the bandh was seen in Kanta Toli area. Auto, e-rickshaw, bus service, establishments, shops all remained closed and the roads remained deserted. People of Ravidas Mohalla located at Kantatoli came out on the streets and supported the Bharat Bandh and raised slogans. Shops in Ranchi's Albert Ekka Chowk, Main Road and Upper Bazaar remained closed. Bandh supporters were also demonstrating at Albert Ekka Chowk.
At Kishore Ganj Chowk too, except for a few shops, all the shops were found closed. Bandh supporters were seen closing shops while moving around on bikes. As soon as the bike supporters moved ahead, the shopkeepers opened their shops. Tight security arrangements were made for the bandh; police personnel were deployed at all the intersections. Especially at Albert Ka Chowk, DSP Prakash Soye, Kotwali police station in-charge, Lower Bazaar police station in-charge and additional forces were deployed. SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha said that there is no report of any untoward incident from anywhere in the city during the bandh.
