Maharana of Danta state brought Mataji to Ambaji
According to a legend, Maharana of Danta state, a great devotee of Mataji, brought Mataji to Ambaji. Maharana was walking ahead and Mataji was riding behind. Maharana was forbidden to look back. When he came across a dense forest on the way, Maharana naturally turned back to see how far Mataji was. At that very moment, Mataji was standing there. Then Maharana built a temple at that place which is today called Ambaji.
This temple is believed to be of prehistoric age. But considering the available circumstances, the present location is about 1200 years old. The tradition of descriptive praises of Ambaji can be found from the Puranas to Adi Shankaracharya and ancient history and travelogues.
Mother gave the kingdom to Raopalji Parmar
Raopalji Parmar was born in the 40th generation after the famous Parmar King Vikram of Ujjain. He went on a pilgrimage to Dwarka and while returning from there, he came near Nagarthatha, the place of Ambika Devi on the border of Kutch and Sindh and made a rule that he would not take food or water after worshipping Mataji. Hence, Goddess Ambika was pleased and Raopalji regained the kingdom of Sindh in 809 AD.
The legacy of Danta Maharaj is worshipped on the eighth
Kedarsinghji killed a Bhil king named Tarsangia in Tarsan in 1069 BC and removed his throne from Gabbar Garh and placed it in Tarsan. After that Rana Jetmalji was crowned in 1069 BC. It is mentioned that he brought his throne to Danta in 1544 BC. Even today, the successors of Danta Maharaj come to Ambaji on the 8th day of Aso Navratri every year as per the family ritual.
