This year Dasheti is on 25th March and Holika Dahan will happen a day before that i.e. on Sunday, 24th March. This time there is some confusion regarding the timing of Holika Dahan because it is happening during Ratri Bhadra period and Holika Dahan is not done during this time, hence there is doubt about the auspicious time of Holika Dahan.
Doing any kind of auspicious work is prohibited during Bhadra period.
According to astrology, doing any kind of auspicious work is considered prohibited during Bhadra period. It is also called inauspicious period in astrology. According to the scriptures, this Bhadra is the daughter of Lord Suryadev and sister of Shanidev. Bhadra's nature is also harsh and angry like Saturn, so to control Bhadra's nature, Brahma placed her in Vishti Karan, the main part of Kaal Gana or calendar. Therefore, whenever Bhadra period starts, religious and auspicious works are not done at that time. Let us also tell you that Bhadra roams in all the three worlds, earth, abyss and heaven.
Holika Dahan time
Holika Dahan will take place on March 24, the auspicious time for this will be from 11:15 pm to 12:30 am. The celebration of Holi, the festival of colors, will begin only after Holika Dahan. However, Bhadra period is also coming on this day due to which a slight change has been made in the timing of Holika Dahan. After this, according to the clock, the vote for Holika Dahan has come from 6.30 pm to 8 pm.
This is how we see the auspicious time of Holika Dahan
Pradoshvyapur Purnima date without Bhadra is considered best for Holika Dahan. If Bhadra is not the full moon day of Pradosh and Bhadra ends before midnight, then Holika Dahan should be done after Pradosh when Bhadra ends. But if Bhadra lasts till midnight then in such a situation Holika Dahan can be performed during Bhadra Poonch. But Holika Dahan should never be done in Bhadra mouth. According to religious texts, Holi Dahan done in Bhadra Mukh is considered to welcome evil.
