Bhaaji, have some cold lassi, Papa, you also come, son, take the packet…in this scorching heat, policemen are giving cold lassi to people.

Amritsar: 'Bhaaji, have some cold lassi papa, you also come son, take a packet…' These words are being heard in the markets of Amritsar these days. Here policemen are distributing packets of cold lassi to people in the scorching heat. The police, which catches dangerous criminals and miscreants and sends them to jail, has set such a great example of social service that it is being appreciated everywhere.

Actually, these days some police officers and jawans are seen distributing packets of lassi in the city. Usually you must have seen the police on duty being alert but they are seen distributing packets of lassi to the people in the scorching heat. These jawans are from Punjab Armed Police, PAP and Punjab Police.

Standing at the intersections, these soldiers call people towards them by holding packets of lassi. The temperature of Guru Nagri has reached 47 degrees Celsius. There is heat from the sky to the earth. Animals are looking troubled and helpless in the heat. These soldiers have started a collective effort by adopting the words of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji 'Naam Gaao, Kirat Karo, Wand Chhako'. These soldiers, who have distributed thousands of lassi packets so far, have spent all the money from their own pockets. Usually the police are accused of embezzlement but these soldiers took a part of their salary and served the people selflessly. Inspector Vikramjit Singh says that giving water or other food to a thirsty person is a virtuous act. Anyway, in this scorching heat, the throat starts drying after two minutes. Deaths are also occurring due to heat. In such a situation, we have made a small collective effort to meet the needs of the people. We want people to take inspiration from this so that passersby do not have trouble in the heat. All the soldiers are deployed for the security of former Health Minister Prof. Laxmikant Chawla. Apart from Inspector Vikramjit Singh, these include Sub-Inspector Harjit Singh, ASI Satnam Singh, Head Constable Rajkumar, Head Constable Kulwinder Singh, Constable Gurdev Kumar. On Monday, these employees also distributed lemonade at Tunda Talab Chowk.
