Hurricane Beryl: Hurricane Beryl is wreaking havoc in Texas, USA. Eight people have died due to falling trees and heavy floods caused by the storm. In this regard, officials said that seven people have died in Texas and one in Louisiana.
30 lakh homes without electricity
3 million homes and businesses in Texas are without power. The National Hurricane Center said on Monday evening that Beryl was registered as a Category 1 hurricane near Matagorda. Due to which schools, business establishments, offices and financial institutions were closed. The storm has weakened after dropping heavy rains in Matagorda before moving to Houston.
Houston badly affected
The US National Hurricane Center said Beryl had weakened on Tuesday and was moving northeast with winds of 30 miles (45 kilometers) per hour, though it could still cause flooding and strong winds. More than 3 million people in Houston were badly affected by high winds and flooding.
Cyclone Beryl caused massive destruction
Last week, Hurricane Beryl struck Jamaica, Grenada and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, killing at least 12 people and causing massive damage to infrastructure. The storm is currently moving 70 miles southwest of Houston at 12 mph. It will affect eastern Texas today before moving into the lower Mississippi Valley and then the Ohio Valley.
