Bengaluru: Bengaluru, known for its pleasant weather, has turned into a frying pan, with residents facing extreme temperatures. The temperature in Silicon City was recorded at 38.5 degrees Celsius on Sunday, the second highest temperature in its history. Notably, the highest temperature recorded in the southern city was 39.2 degrees Celsius in April 2016. According to the weather department, the mercury level recorded on Sunday was 4.4 degrees above the city's normal temperature. Experts confirmed that Sunday's temperature was the second highest recorded in Bengaluru since 1967, the highest in 2016.

Notably, the city witnessed its hottest consecutive days for the first time in history. The temperature in the country's Silicon City remained 2-3 degrees above normal for 10-15 days.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility that there may be rain in the city in the second week of May, which will cause a slight drop in the temperature.
However, the weather department also noted that an unusual high pressure area was observed at 305 km above mean sea level. This means that there are chances of hot days in future also.
