Bengaluru: An incident of inappropriate behavior occurred when a Bengaluru city police constable went to a young woman’s house for passport verification and the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru City West Division, ordered the suspension of the police constable for this charge.
Kiran, working as a police constable at Batarayanapur police station in Bengaluru city, has been suspended, the girl complained about this to Deputy Commissioner of Police S Girish. The Deputy Commissioner of Police said that he has been suspended on the basis of evidence of misconduct in the preliminary investigation.
According to a report in The Indian Express, the 22-year-old woman, who worked in an IT firm in Bengaluru, sought a job abroad and applied for a passport for the same. Information was sent to Batarayanpur police station for verification of this passport application. According to this, police constable Kiran had gone to the girl’s house.
Coincidentally, the woman’s elder brother was involved in a murder case and it was revealed that he was a rowdy person. It is learned that Kiran visited Anna’s house several times in two weeks on the pretext that her passport application might be rejected due to Anna’s criminal case.
In her complaint, she has reportedly said that Kiran used to misbehave while visiting her house by closing the door, sitting on the sofa and asking her to sit next to him. Additionally, she noticed that no one was home and asked for a hug, the complaint said.
However, senior police officers have confirmed that even if the girl’s brother has a criminal history, he will not face any problem in getting the passport made. Officials said that if there is a case against the brother, he will have to face legal action and it is not right to blame his family for this. In the same context, senior police officers have appealed to the Bengaluru City Police to report any such incidents or unfair practices like demand of bribe or bribery during passport verification.
