Kolkata, 20 April (HS). It is extremely hot in other parts of the state including metropolitan Kolkata. The situation is such that the heat of Bengal has left behind even a desert state like Rajasthan. In a statement issued by the regional headquarters of the Meteorological Department in Alipore, it has been said that the minimum temperature in Kolkata is 40.8 degrees Celsius, which is five degrees more than normal. Apart from this, the minimum temperature is 28.6 degrees Celsius which is three degrees less than normal.
Apart from Kolkata, there is a possibility of heat wave in Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, Purulia, Bankura, Jhargram, Murshidabad and Malda. The temperature here is between 30 to 42 degrees, due to which people are suffering due to extreme heat and sweating.
The Meteorological Department has said that currently similar weather is going to continue till Sunday.
