Kolkata, 05 November (HS). West Bengal Government to R.G. Six major questions will have to be answered in the Supreme Court in the case of rape and murder of a junior doctor in Kar Medical College and Hospital. A state government official said on Tuesday that its complete report has been prepared. This hearing will be held in the Supreme Court today (5 November), in which the court has sought detailed information from the state government regarding the civic volunteers recruited for the police.
In the earlier hearing, the court had raised questions as to under which legal provision the state government is appointing civic volunteers on security duty in medical colleges and hospitals. Sanjay Roy, the main accused in this case, is also a civic volunteer. In this regard, the court had asked six questions, in which information like recruitment process, minimum qualification, check of prior criminal record, place of appointment and pay scale has been sought.
The state government will have to present this information in the form of an affidavit, which will be filed in the court today by the state government's lawyer. Apart from this, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the case, will also have to submit a fresh report of the investigation till date.
This hearing is taking place at a time when the process of framing charges in a special court in Kolkata has been completed and the trial of the case is scheduled to begin from November 11. This matter is before Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, who is scheduled to retire on November 10.
