Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel were present at the spot, but did not react to the incident.
BJP has informed the Election Commission regarding this incident. BJP Chief Whip Shankar Ghosh said that this is shameful in the name of democracy. Such situations are not seen in any other state. The Commission knows everything, now their officials will take necessary steps for the restoration of democracy.
At the same time, former Trinamool MLA from Sitai and currently Lok Sabha MP from Cooch Behar, Jagdish Chandra Barma Basunia alleged that CAPF personnel are going beyond their limits and harassing voters at many booths.
It is noteworthy that Basunia’s wife is a candidate from Sitai in this by-election, and the BJP has filed a complaint against him accusing him of misusing his power to influence the voters.
