England started their campaign in Euro Cup Football 2024 with a 1-0 win over Serbia thanks to the goal of young player Jude Bellingham. Bellingham, who plays for Real Madrid club, scored a header from Bukayo Saka's cross pass in the 13th minute which proved to be decisive. Before the match, there was a clash between the supporters of both the teams due to which security was increased.
Serbia also made several attempts to score but failed. England captain Harry Kane was close to doubling the lead in the second half but Serbian goalkeeper Padrag Rajkovic pushed his header off the post. This was Kane's 23rd appearance in a major tournament, a new England record. With the win over Serbia, England reached the top of Group C. In this group, Denmark and Slovenia tied 1-1. England will now play Denmark in Frankfurt on Thursday.

In the match between England and Serbia, only 11 shots were taken on each other's goal posts to score a goal. In which Serbia tried to score six times and England tried to score five times. This is the least number of shots taken in the European Championship since 1980.
Bellingham became the youngest player
England star Jude Bellingham has become the youngest player to play in three major international tournaments after legendary footballers Michael Owen and Cristiano Ronaldo. Bellingham has played the Euro Cup at the age of 20 years and 353 days. The previous record was held by Owen (22 years and 170 days) and Ronaldo (23 years and 123 days). Bellingham, who played all five of England's matches at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, became the first young player to score in England's opening match in two different tournaments. He has also joined the elite club of Bobby Charlton, Alan Shearer, Gary Lineker and Bryan Robson. Bellingham made his first international appearance for England at Euro 2020 in 2021.

Stuttgart: The Euro Cup 2024 Group C match between Slovenia and Denmark ended in a 1-1 draw, with Erik Janja scoring for Slovenia in the 77th minute and Christian Eriksen for Denmark in the 17th minute. Slovenia has played four matches in the Euro Cup so far but has not won a single match yet. It has drawn three matches and lost one. Erik Janja became the third player to score for Slovenia in the European Championship. Earlier, Zaltako Zapovic and Miran Pavlin scored. Jahovic scored from outside the box against Yugoslavia in the 2000 Euro Cup. Denmark's Andres Christiansen created a unique record by passing the ball 89 times against Slovenia.
Romania defeated Ukraine after 24 years
In one of the Group E matches of the Euro Cup 2024 football, Romania performed brilliantly and won 3-0 and defeated Ukraine after a 24-year long absence in the European Championship. Romania took the lead within the first half hour of the match. Nicolae Stanchiu scored a goal to put the team ahead 1-0. After the second half, Razvan Marin scored in the 53rd minute and Denis Dragus scored in the 57th minute to make the team's score 3-0 and put Ukraine on the backfoot. Security personnel removed the Russian flags during the match. Romania has played 17 matches in the European Championship so far and has won for only the second time. Earlier in the 2000 Euro Cup, Romania created a sensation by defeating England 3-2. During the match, five shots were made on the goal post from Romania and only two from Ukraine. Ukrainian players passed the ball to each other 591 times but failed to score. One player each from both the teams got a yellow card.
Portugal and Czech Republic will face each other in Group F, Ronaldo will be the star attraction

Portugal will be a strong contender to qualify for the next stage from Group-F despite losing two of its last four matches. Portugal won the 2016 Euro Cup and reached the semi-finals in the next three seasons. Portugal was eliminated in the last-16 of Euro Cup 2020. This will be the fourth match played between Portugal and Czech Republic since 1996. In 1996, the Czech Republic won 1-0, followed by Portugal 3-1 in 2008 and 1-0 in 2012. In the last four matches against the Czech Republic, Portugal has won all the matches and this team has scored a total of 10 goals. Portugal won all its 10 matches in 2024 qualifying and scored 36 more goals than any other team.
