Goals from Youri Tielemans and Kevin De Bruyne helped Belgium beat Romania 2-0 at Euro 2017, marking the first time in the tournament's history that all four teams in a group are tied on points after two rounds.
Belgium's win against Romania in the match played here at the Cologne Stadium has given all four teams in Group E – Belgium, Romania, Slovakia and Ukraine – three points each. Now all eyes will be on the matches between Belgium-Ukraine and Slovakia-Romania to be played on Wednesday. Romania and Slovakia won their opening matches in Group E while Belgium and Ukraine won the other group matches. For Belgium, Tielemans scored in the 73rd second to give Belgium an early lead while Bruin scored a stunning goal in the second half to secure a 2-0 win.
Belgium's King Philippe and Queen Mathilde also came to watch the match. Belgium coach Domenico Tedesco said that we felt very relieved after winning the match against Romania. It was very important for us to get three points. However, it would have been better against Romania if we could have scored more goals in the beginning. We could have scored four or five goals. It is worth noting that the world's third-ranked team Belgium was eliminated from the group stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
