Before the mid-term elections, Trump gave an open threat of veto: Said – ‘I will force the compromise by bringing the Democrats to their knees’

Just before the very important mid-term elections to be held in America, political excitement has reached its peak. Former President Donald Trump has once again created a stir in the political circles of Washington with his aggressive and outspoken style. Trump has warned in clear words that even if the Republican Party loses its majority in the US Congress (Parliament) in the upcoming elections, he is not going to bow down. Referring to the constitutional powers of the President, he said that he will use his veto power in such a way that the leaders of the opposition Democratic Party will be completely forced to come to the table of negotiation and compromise. Speaking to the media outside the White House before leaving for a huge election rally held in Florida, Trump confidently claimed that the Republican Party is going to register a landslide victory, but he has the perfect legislative weapon ready to deal with any adverse situation.

Facing sharp questions from reporters at the White House, Donald Trump revealed his future strategy regarding a possible political impasse. He said that even if the Democrats gain majority in the House of Representatives or the Senate, they will directly veto every law and policy proposal passed by them. In Trump’s words, “When I start vetoing everything, the Democrats will understand how to run the country and they will come begging me and compromise on our agenda.” When asked whether such a bitter confrontation between the executive and the legislature would lead to the collapse of the American economy, he rejected it outright. He said that even a divided government cannot become an obstacle to his determination and implementing the priorities of America First.

During this, Trump also expressed his anger over the reports of American media and analysts which were claiming that the Republican Party was lagging behind in the mid-term elections. He termed as complete nonsense the recent analysis of The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), in which it was written that Trump’s aggressive language and polarizing campaign is increasing resentment among centrist voters and this could lead to a huge loss of seats for the party. Trump made a direct personal attack on the author of this article and former veteran Republican Party strategist Karl Rove, calling him a ‘loser’. Trump argued that the huge turnout at his nationwide rallies is a direct proof of the fact that his presence at the grassroots level is giving party candidates a huge advantage and the mainstream media is only busy in creating fabricated narratives.

During the press conference, Trump also targeted Ilhan Omar, a vocal leader of the opposition camp and Democratic Party MP from Minnesota. He demanded Ilhan Omar to immediately resign from her post. Referring to an old and controversial Fox News report, Trump made the sensational claim that the MP’s real name is not Ilhan Omar but ‘Ilhan Noor Saeed Elmi’ and that she has committed fraud by hiding her identity. However, Ilhan Omar’s official office immediately reacted to this allegation, calling it a completely baseless, false and distracting conspiracy. Omar’s spokespersons clarified that her official and real name is Ilhan Omar and Trump repeatedly spreads hatred by targeting minorities and women MPs in his election rallies.

Reiterating his old stance of questioning the fairness of the electoral system, Trump alleged large-scale rigging in the state of California. Without presenting any official document or evidence, he claimed that more than 20 thousand fake voters have been created in California alone. Trump further said that if a thorough investigation of the entire state is conducted, this figure could reach lakhs, which will directly affect the election results. He also expressed distrust in the voting processes of California, as well as Minnesota and several other states, saying that mail-in ballots and weak verification rules are causing widespread irregularities in the election system. However, election officials and the state administration have vehemently denied these allegations and described the entire voting process as transparent and flawless.
