One should avoid purchasing these items on the holy festival of Akshaya Tritiya:
Aluminum and Plastic Utensils: In the scriptures, metals like aluminum and steel are considered symbols of Rahu. Bringing these home on Akshaya Tritiya affects the positive energy of the house and may block the blessings. Buying plastic items is also considered prohibited on this day.
Sharp and pointed objects: Buying knives, scissors, needles or any kind of weapon on this day is considered extremely inauspicious. There is a religious belief that sharp objects increase bitterness in relationships and troubles in the home.
Black colored items: Black color is considered to be associated with Saturn and negative energy. On an auspicious day like Akshaya Tritiya, one should avoid buying black clothes, black furniture or any black item, as it can cause mental stress and obstruction in work.
Thorny Plants: According to Vastu Shastra, thorny or milky plants (like cactus) should not be brought into the house on this day. Instead, you can buy Tulsi, money plant or flower plants which help in bringing money.
