Punjab Kings have started preparations for IPL 2025. Some time ago, the team made a major change as the head coach and handed over the responsibility to former Australian captain Ricky Ponting. Now Ponting's coaching team has decided to retain many veterans in the support staff. The picture of player retention is not clear yet, but the franchise has retained many veterans in the coaching staff.
These veterans were retained
According to reports, the new head coach of Punjab Kings Ricky Ponting has included former Australian all-rounder James Hope in the support staff. Hopes has previously worked with Ponting at Delhi Capitals. The report also states that Delhi offered Hopes a move with the team, but he did not accept the offer and decided to work with Ponting in Punjab.
Punjab retained these veterans in support staff
Ponting decided to retain Brad Haddin, who has been working with the franchise as an assistant coach for the past few years, in the support staff. Apart from this, Ponting also decided to retain former Indian spinner and chief selector Sunil Joshi. Sunil Joshi has been a part of Punjab Kings as the spin bowling coach for the last few years. Several more members of the support staff were retained in the team, including strength and conditioning coach Adrien Le Roux and physio Andrew Leaps.
Retaining players will be a big task
After retaining the experienced players in the support staff, Ponting's biggest challenge will be to retain the six players ahead of him. Now it will be interesting to see which players the team will retain. According to reports, the teams will have to submit the list of retained players to BCCI by October 31.
