Bedingham's Century, S. New Zealand 1/40 against the target of 276 runs set by Africa

With the help of David Bedingham's century, South Africa set New Zealand a target of 267 runs on the third day of the second cricket test on Thursday. At the end of the third day's play, New Zealand had scored 40 runs and needed 227 runs. Devon Conway (17) was out on the fifth ball of the last over of the day and at the time of stumps Tom Latham was on 21 runs.

South Africa scored 235 runs in the second innings. Bedingham, who scored his career best score of 110 runs, made a partnership of 98 runs with Keegan Peterson (43) for the fifth wicket. Apart from these two, captain Neil Brand scored 34 runs and Zubair Hamza scored 17 runs. The African team lost its last six wickets in a span of 33 runs. Fast bowler Will Oruki, playing his first Test for New Zealand, took five wickets for 34 runs. He scored 93 runs and took nine wickets in the match, the best performance by any bowler on Test debut for New Zealand.
