The Indian team has captured the series by defeating England in the Ranchi Test. Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) can take a big decision regarding red ball cricket. Actually, many players keep themselves away from red ball cricket to play IPL. Due to which players are not able to prepare for Test cricket and players pay more attention to IPL instead of red ball cricket.
Test match fees may increase
In red ball cricket, players do not get as much money as they get in IPL, so now BCCI can take a big decision to increase the fees of players in red ball cricket. According to a report, the BCCI is considering increasing the Test match fees to avoid a situation where players are avoiding red ball cricket to play in the IPL.
Ishan-Iyer did not play Ranji match
Ishan Kishan decided to take rest from the Test series on South Africa tour. Team India's head coach Rahul Dravid advised Ishan Kishan to play in Ranji Trophy but Ishan did not play a single match in Ranji. It was also claimed in many media reports that Ishan Kishan was more focused on IPL than red-ball cricket. After this, NCA told Shreyas Iyer, who was out of the England series due to back pain, that Iyer was fit and ready to play the match, but even after this Iyer did not play the Ranji match.
BCCI's decision on red ball cricket
A BCCI source said that for example, if a person plays all the Test series in a calendar year, he will be rewarded in addition to an annual retainer contract. This step will be taken to make the players like red ball cricket more. This will be an added advantage to playing test cricket.
