BCCI announced to give Rs 8.5 crore to help Indian players participating in the Olympics

The countdown to Paris Olympics 2024 has begun. This mega event of sports will start from 26 July and will continue till 11 August. 10,500 athletes from 206 countries will participate in these games to be held in Paris, the capital of France. The BCCI has announced to give Rs 8.5 crore to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) for the Paris Olympics. BCCI Secretary Jai Shah tweeted that I am proud to announce that BCCI will support our best athletes to lead India in Paris Olympics 2024. We are giving Rs 8.5 crore to the IOA for this campaign. We wish our entire team all the best.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced

117 Indian athletes will participate in Paris Olympics. Apart from these players, the Sports Ministry has also approved 140 members of the support staff. The highest number of players in the Indian team, 29, are from athletics. These include 11 women and 18 men. After athletics, there are 21 players in shooting and 19 in hockey. 8 players from India will participate in table tennis, 7 players including PV Sindhu in badminton. 6-6 players will participate in wrestling, archery and boxing. After this, 4 players will participate in golf, 3 in tennis, 2 in swimming, 2 in sailing. One player each will participate in horse riding, judo, rowing and weightlifting.

Let us tell you that earlier BCCI had honored the players who won medals in Tokyo Olympics in the year 2021. BCCI honored Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra with Rs 1 crore, silver medalist Mirabai Chanu and Ravi Dahiya with Rs 50 lakh each and bronze medalists PV Sindhu, Lovlina Borgohain, Bajrang Punia with Rs 25 lakh each. Apart from this, the Indian men's hockey team, which won the bronze medal, was given Rs 1.25 crore.
