Mumbai: At a time when the assembly elections are near, the BJP is on the backfoot due to the accident involving the Audi of Sanket, son of Maharashtra BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule. Sanket himself is an office bearer of the BJP Yuva Morcha and a director in many companies.
On Sunday night, Sanket's Audi hit several vehicles at a speed of 150 in Nagpur. This Audi hit two different cars as well as several two-wheelers and two people were injured. The police have arrested Sanket's friend who was driving the car and another friend who was also in the car. Although Sanket was sitting in the car, his name was not written anywhere in this FIR and no action was taken against him. After the accident, Sanke fled in another car to avoid being beaten up by the people.
Chandrashekhar Bawankule himself has admitted that the car is registered in the name of Sanket. It is alleged that an attempt was made to change the number plate of the car after the accident. Sanket and his friends were returning from a beer bar in Nagpur when their car met with an accident. Blood samples of the driver and others have been taken to ascertain whether Sanket and his friends had consumed alcohol at the bar.
