News India Live, Digital Desk: With the sound of West Bengal Assembly elections 2026, the political temperature of the state has reached sky high. The announcement of construction of ‘Babri Masjid’ by TMC MLA Humayun Kabir in Beldanga, Murshidabad has given rise to a big controversy. Now Union Home Minister Amit Shah himself has taken charge on this issue. Shah has bluntly warned Mamata Banerjee and her MLA that second Babri will not be allowed to be built on the soil of Bengal.
Humayun Kabir’s ‘Babri’ bet and Shah’s roar
TMC MLA from Murshidabad Humayun Kabir has been waging a campaign for some time now to build a new mosque in Bengal, which he is naming ‘Babri Masjid’. The MLA claims that he will build this mosque by collecting donations. Attacking this strongly, Amit Shah said that Mamata Banerjee’s MLAs are openly trying to create communal polarisation. Shah challenged and said, “Humayun can do whatever he wants with Kabir, but Babri’s dream will never be fulfilled in Bengal.”
‘Will take revenge of 370 from Mamta’ Amit Shah’s big attack
While addressing an election rally, Amit Shah made sharp attacks on the Mamata government. Referring to the removal of Article 370 from Kashmir, he said that the opposition parties had opposed it in the Parliament. Shah said, “Mamata Banerjee and her allies had opposed the removal of 370. Now the people of Bengal will respond to this appeasement politics. We will take revenge for the opposition to 370 by removing Mamata Banerjee from power.”
Temple vs Mosque: Politics of polarization intensifies
In response to Humayun Kabir’s Babri Masjid, Hindu organizations have also raised the alarm for the construction of Ram temple in the state. After the announcement of construction of Ram Temple in many areas including Bidhannagar, a war of ‘Temple vs Mosque’ has broken out in Bengal. Amit Shah made it clear that BJP will not allow any kind of illegal construction or communal agenda to succeed in the state. He also cornered the Mamata government on the issues of infiltration and political violence.
Will Bengal become the next political Kurukshetra?
This controversial step of Humayun Kabir has become a sore spot for TMC as well. Although the party has called it a personal statement of the MLA, but the opposition parties are considering it as Mamata Banerjee’s tacit consent. This aggressive stance of Amit Shah has made it clear that the issue of ‘Babri’ and ‘Ram Mandir’ is going to be at the center of attention in the upcoming elections. Now it remains to be seen to whom the people of Bengal hand over the keys of power amid this religious tussle.
