Sheopur, 27 July (HS). The heavy rain on Saturday brought happiness at some places and trouble at others. The heavy rain that fell for an hour again turned Baroda Nagar into an island. Due to which the life of the people was affected. The Sheopur-Kota road has been closed due to the overflowing of the Parvati river. This rain has brought smiles on the faces of the farmers. This rain has come as Amrit for the farmers who were suffering due to lack of electricity and water for the last few days. The effect of this rain has been seen in the entire district. At this time, the paddy crop planted in the fields needs water but due to lack of electricity, irrigation was not possible. Due to this, there were reports of agitation by farmers against the electricity company at many places. The heavy rain on Saturday has brought relief to the farmers as well as the officials of the electricity company. After the heavy rain, the demand for electricity supply has decreased.

Baroda has become an island, who is responsible: There is no river near Baroda. Aheli and Parvati rivers are so far away from the city that there is no danger of flood in the city if there is excess water in them. Despite this, every year during the rainy season, the people of Baroda have to face flood like situations. Every time the city council claims to control the floods but the flood situation is created because of the city council. There are many people who say this. People say that due to not cleaning the drains properly before the rainy season and due to lack of proper arrangement for water drainage, the situation of water logging is created in Baroda.

Parvati river overflows, connection with Kota broken: The effect of the rain in Malwa region is visible in the Parvati river. The bridge built on Parvati river between Jalalpura-Khatauli has submerged. Due to the bridge being submerged in water, the Sheopur-Kota road was closed for the whole day. Although to solve this problem, another bridge has been constructed nearby but vehicular movement has not been started as the work on it has not been completed. Pedestrians used this bridge which is currently closed for traffic. People traveling by passenger buses crossed the bridge on foot after getting down from the buses and travelled further.

People living in lower settlements stay awake all night: The fear of the worst flood of the century that came on 3 August 2021 is still there in the people. This is seen in the lower settlements. Whenever it rains at night, the people of this area stay awake all night instead of sleeping and keep measuring the rise and fall of water by reaching the river bank. People are afraid that there may be a flood at night and they may get trapped in the flood again like before. Gulabbari, Bhainspada, Girraj Ghat, Regar Mohalla, Ward No. 2 Harijan Basti etc. are such areas where there is always a fear of waterlogging.
