Barcelona legend and one of the best midfielders of his generation, Andres Iniesta, has retired from professional football. With this his illustrious career lasting two decades came to an end. Last week, Iniesta had hinted at his retirement by writing Monday the eighth on social media.
In his 18-year career, he wore jersey number eight and number 24. Iniesta played 674 matches for Barcelona in his club career, scoring 57 goals and assisting 135 goals. They have won four Champions Leagues, three Club World Cups, nine league titles, three European Super Cups, six Copas del Rey and seven Spanish Super Cups. Iniesta scored in extra time against the Netherlands in the 2010 World Cup Final to give Spain its first and only FIFA trophy. He was also a member of the team that won the European Championship in 2002 and 2012.
