The financial year 2024-25 has started and for the banking world it has started with a busy first month of holidays. In the first month of the new financial year i.e. April 2024, there are not two or four but 14 bank holidays. This is going to affect the banks this week also.
According to the list of bank holidays released by RBI, this week is full of bank holidays. In many states, banks will be open only for 3 days this week. Common customers may face problems due to banks being closed most of the days of the week.
Bank holidays continue from Tuesday 8th April 2024, the second day of the week. Bank holidays are Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, Telugu New Year, Sajibu Nogampanaba and First Navratri. Banks will remain closed due to different festivals according to different states. The states where bank branches will remain closed include Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Manipur, Goa and Jammu and Kashmir.
Banks in Kerala will remain closed on the third day of the week, April 10, on the occasion of Ramzan. There will be a bank holiday in almost the entire country on Thursday, April 11. On this day, banks will function only in Chandigarh, Sikkim, Kerala and Himachal Pradesh. 13th April is the second Saturday of the month. Due to this, banks will remain closed across the country. There will be a Sunday holiday on 14th April. Similarly, during the week banks in at least 8 states will remain closed for 4 days instead of only 3 days. The states where banks will remain closed 4 days a week include Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Manipur, Goa and Jammu and Kashmir.
