Why will banks remain open on Sunday?
RBI has directed to keep banks open on Sunday, March 31. The Reserve Bank has taken this decision as it is the last day of the current financial year 2023-24. Reserve Bank of India said that the annual closing is on 31st March. All banks will remain open in that. So that the transactions up to the end of the financial year can be recorded in that year. The Government of India has requested all branches related to government receipts and payments to remain open on March 31, so that accounting of government receipts can be done.
How long will banks remain open?
RBI said that during the annual closing of the financial year on March 31, banks across the country have been instructed to open on time. That is, on Sunday, March 31, all banks will open at their regular time and will close at the scheduled time. But customers can do NEFT and RTGS transactions till 12 midnight.
Income Tax Department offices will also remain open
On Sunday, March 31, not only banks but also the offices of the Income Tax Department will remain open. Income tax offices will remain open not only on Sunday but also on Good Friday, Friday March 29, Saturday March 30 and Sunday March 31. The Income Tax Department has given instructions to keep offices open across the country. Since the last day of the financial year is Good Friday, the department has canceled the long holiday. The Income Tax Department said that the IT office will remain open on March 29, 30 and 31. Let us tell you that the stock market will remain closed during this period.
