As soon as the month of November arrives, a long queue of festivals and national and regional celebrations starts. Big festivals like Diwali, Lakshmi Puja, Govardhan Puja, Bhai Dooj, Chhath Puja, Guru Nanak Jayanti and Kanakdas Jayanti are celebrated in this month. If you have to complete any important bank related work – like check clearance, making a draft, submitting loan related documents or large cash transaction – then definitely check the list of holidays before leaving home. According to the official bank holiday calendar released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), there will be a total of 16 bank holidays during November in different states of the country including national holidays, state-wise regional festivals and regular weekend holidays (Sunday and 2nd-4th Saturday).
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) lists bank holidays every month classified into three major categories:
-
Negotiable Instruments Act holiday under
-
Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) Holiday
-
Holidays related to closing of bank accounts
It is important to note that banks will not remain closed for the full 16 days in all states. Some national and public holidays apply uniformly to banks across the country, while on many major festivals (such as Kannada Rajyotsava, Chhath Puja, Vangala Utsav, etc.) bank branches remain closed only in the respective states.

Despite physical counter operations being closed in bank branches, customers will not face any major inconvenience in financial transactions. Most banking services will continue to operate without any interruption in the modern digital age:
-
Net Banking and Mobile Banking: Fund transfers (IMPS, NEFT, RTGS) through UPI, net banking and mobile apps will work 24 hours as usual.
-
ATMs and Cash Deposit Machines (CDM): ATMs across the country will remain operational for cash withdrawal. However, if the bank remains closed for 2-3 consecutive days, there is a possibility of the ATM running out of cash, hence it is wise to withdraw the necessary cash beforehand.
-
Online Bill Payment: Services like credit card bills, electricity-water bills and e-commerce payments will continue without any disruption through online medium.
