Bank Holidays in November: Banks will remain closed for 15 days next month, lots of holidays from Diwali to Chhath and Guru Nanak Jayanti.

Amidst the festival and wedding season, the month of November is going to be quite a holiday in terms of banking services. According to the official holiday calendar released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), in the month of November, normal functioning of banks will remain closed for a total of 15 days including local festivals of various states, national festivals and weekly holidays (four Sundays, second and fourth Saturday).

This month, big festivals like Diwali, Govardhan Puja, Bhai Dooj, Chhath Puja, Wangala Mahotsav and Guru Nanak Jayanti are falling. Since many RBI holidays are regional (under the Negotiable Instruments Act), banks will not be closed simultaneously in all states. In such a situation, if you have to go to the bank branch and complete important work like check clearance, getting a draft made or KYC update, then plan after seeing the list of holidays in advance.

There is a regular holiday on every Sunday and second and fourth Saturday of the month as per the prescribed rules in all government, private, foreign and rural banks across the country:

  • 01 November: Sunday (weekly holiday)

  • 08 November: Sunday (weekly holiday)

  • 14 November: Second Saturday (Countrywide Bank Holiday)

  • Nov 15: Sunday (weekly holiday)

  • 22 November: Sunday (weekly holiday)

  • 28 November: Fourth Saturday (Countrywide Bank Holiday)

  • 29 November: Sunday (weekly holiday)
