Bangladesh lies at the juncture of India's Neighbourhood First policy: Modi

New Delhi, June 22 (HS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that Bangladesh is located at the confluence of India's Neighbourhood First Policy, Act East Policy, Vision SAGAR and Indo-Pacific Vision.

Addressing a joint press conference with his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina in New Delhi, Prime Minister Modi said that although we have met 10 times in the last one year, today's meeting is special because Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is our first state guest in the third term of our government.

Modi, while highlighting the relations between the two countries and the initiatives taken in the last one year, said that in the last one year, we have together completed many important projects for public welfare. He mentioned the opening of the sixth cross-border rail link of India-Bangladesh between Akhaura-Agartala and the beginning of trade in Indian Rupee between the two countries, etc.

Highlighting the agreements made between India and Bangladesh today, Prime Minister Modi said that today we have prepared a futuristic vision for cooperation in new areas. The youth of both countries will benefit from the agreements reached on cooperation in areas like Green Partnership, Digital Partnership, Blue Economy, Space. Modi said that we welcome Bangladesh's decision to join the Indo-Pacific Ocean Initiative. We will continue our cooperation on other regional and international forums including BIMSTEC.

Prime Minister Modi said that Bangladesh is India's largest development partner and we attach the highest priority to our relations with Bangladesh. I reiterate India's commitment to realising Bangabandhu's vision of a stable, prosperous and progressive Bangladesh.
