Bangladesh riots: Violent protests have been going on for several weeks in India's neighboring country Bangladesh. Riots have erupted over reservation in government jobs. Now in view of the deteriorating situation there, the International Cricket Council (ICC) may soon take a big decision regarding the hosting of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024. Let us tell you that the Women's T20 World Cup is to be played in Bangladesh from October 3 to October 20 this year. According to Cribbs, now the ICC is keeping a close watch on the riots in Bangladesh.

According to Cribbs, an ICC source said, “Officials are closely monitoring the riots in Bangladesh, but the tournament is still far away. The situation there has improved in the last 24 hours.” It is also worth noting that recently the ICC had called a meeting in Colombo, in which the issue of Women's T20 World Cup has not been raised at the moment. However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has taken cognizance of the situation.

What is the reason of riots in Bangladesh?

Actually, there is a provision of 30 percent reservation in government jobs for the families of soldiers who fought in the 1971 freedom struggle. Due to this opposition to reservation, Bangladesh has become a victim of riots. It is being told that more than 100 people have lost their lives so far due to the violence, internet services have been shut down and major educational institutions across the country are currently locked.

When will the World Cup take place?

The Women's T20 World Cup will be played in Bangladesh from October 3 to October 20. Apart from host Bangladesh, a total of 10 teams including India, England and Australia will participate in this event, which have been divided into 2 groups. India is present in Group A.
