Chattogram, March 28 (HS). Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Wednesday confirmed that head coach Chandika Hathurusinghe will not be a part of the final Test match against Sri Lanka as he will return home due to 'personal reasons'.
According to ESPN Cricinfo, assistant coach Nick Pothas will replace Hathurusinghe in the second Test.
South African cricketer Pothas joined the Bangladesh team in April last year. Prior to this, he served as interim head coach for West Indies and Sri Lanka. On the other hand, Hathurusinghe became the head coach of Bangladesh for the second time in February 2023.
Ahead of the second Test match, BCB confirmed that Shakib Al Hasan would return to the Test team after a gap of one year. The left-handed batsman last played a Test for Bangladesh in April 2023 against Ireland in Mirpur. He will replace Tauheed Hridoy in the team.

After the win, Sri Lanka finished with 12 points from three matches and a points percentage of 33.33, ahead of South Africa (25 per cent) and England (17.50 per cent). The Sri Lankan team is tied with Bangladesh at sixth place in the World Test Championship rankings.
Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have the same marks (12) and marks percentage (33.33). The victory in the first Test result saw several changes in the table, with West Indies moving up to fifth place with the same points percentage as Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Pakistan came fourth with 36.66 points percentage and 22 points.
