Dhaka, August 17 (HS). The interim government in Bangladesh was expanded on Friday and four more advisors were included in the team led by Mohammad Yunus. The new advisors include economist Wahiduddin Mahmud, former cabinet secretary Ali Imam Majumdar, former energy secretary Mohammad Faujul Kabir Khan and Lieutenant General Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.
With the inclusion of these four members, the number of members in the advisory council of the interim government increased to 21. Yunus and 13 other advisors were sworn in on August 8. Two advisors were sworn in on August 11 and one a day later.
Sheikh Hasina (76) had to resign following massive student protests against reservation in government jobs and she left the country for India on August 5.
President Mohammad Shahabuddin administered the oath to four new advisers at the government headquarters Bangabhaban, a Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson told PTI. They were sworn in at a simple ceremony in the presence of the Advisory Council and concerned officials, he said. Yunus is expected to allocate their portfolios later, he said. Most of the advisers are civil society figures, academicians, NGOs and rights group leaders.
