Guwahati, 06 August (HS). In view of the incident that took place in the neighboring country Bangladesh last Monday, the Border Security Force (BSF) reviewed the security situation on the international border with Bangladesh under Guwahati Frontier and issued a high alert instructing all field commanders to keep a strict vigil on the border with full vigilance and readiness to deal with any unexpected situation. Along with this, instructions have been given to keep an eye on the border by increasing manpower and forming quick reaction teams.
In a statement issued by CISF Guwahati Frontier Headquarters today, it was told that out of the 4,096 km long India-Bangladesh border, CISF Guwahati Frontier is responsible for the security of 509 km of the border from Cooch Behar in West Bengal to South Salmara Mankachar in Assam. Under this, 11 battalions and a water wing of CISF are deployed which are ready to deal with any challenge on the border with full alertness. Which has been made more strict and surveillance has been increased at all border stations.
The manpower at the border posts has been increased with immediate effect. All the surveillance equipment deployed on the border is being fully utilized and instructions have been issued to all the personnel deployed on the border to always remain alert and vigilant so that any untoward situation can be dealt with. Along with this, the intelligence units have been directed to increase their activities and provide quick and concrete information so that any danger can be predicted and appropriate action can be ensured.
Keeping in mind the sensitivity of the border and every challenge, CISF personnel are effectively deployed on the border and through its continuous efforts, CISF is playing an important role in ensuring the security and integrity of the nation's borders.
