Chandigarh: Opposition leader Pratap Singh Bajwa on Thursday accused Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Punjab's Aam Aadmi Party government of colluding with the BJP-led Haryana government against farmers.
He said that the Haryana government has adopted a brutal stance for the last three days. Haryana Police is firing tear gas and rubber bullets at the farmers camping under the jurisdiction of Punjab. Bajwa said around 130 Punjabi farmers have been injured but Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who also holds the Home portfolio, has miserably failed to register an FIR against the Haryana Police.
Senior Congress leader Bajwa said that not a single AAP leader condemned the attack on Punjabi farmers by the Manohar Lal Khattar government. This proves that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was working in collaboration with Haryana Chief Minister, which is like stabbing the entire farming community.
He said that though Punjab Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh met the injured yesterday at Dr BR Ambedkar State Institute for Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Mohali, CHC Banur, Civil Hospital Rajpura and Rajindra Hospital Patiala, but he was unable to reach the medico-legal Failed to ensure reporting. (MLR) of the injured has been done. Bajwa said that he had gone to the injured only to make his presence felt and to take advantage of it.
The leader of the opposition said that in order to remain good in the eyes of the BJP, the Chief Minister of Punjab has surrendered his and the democratic rights of the farming community of the country. Earlier he had tried to mediate between farmer organizations and the BJP government. Now they have given permission to the Haryana government to commit atrocities on Punjabi farmers.
