Bajrang Punia suspended by United World Wrestling, refused to give dope test

Wrestling's world governing body UWW has suspended Bajrang Punia till the end of this year following NADA's decision to suspend him for refusing dope test. However, in a surprise decision, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) sanctioned around Rs 9 lakh for his training abroad despite being well aware of the NADA orders.

Bajrang, one of the country's most successful wrestlers, was suspended by NADA on April 23 after receiving a notice on April 18. In his defence, the Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist said he never refused to give his sample for training but only asked the dope control officer why the kit brought for testing was an expired kit. Meanwhile, regarding the suspension order of UWW, Bajrang said that he has not received any information regarding this. However, Bajrang has confirmed that his lawyer will respond to NADA on the suspension.

Let us tell you that for his wrestling training, Bajrang Punia was initially going to go for 35 days of training, but after the MOC meeting, he changed his plan, after which he would have left on May 28. After this suspended order, Bajrang Punia will not be able to participate in the trials for the Olympics. In such a situation, this is being considered a big blow for India regarding Paris Olympics.
