Mumbai, September 24 (HS). The investigation of the encounter of Akshay Shinde, accused in the Badalpur rape case, has now been handed over to the Navi Mumbai CID. Till now, the Thane Crime Branch was investigating this encounter. The post-mortem of Akshay Shinde's body has been completed under CCTV surveillance at JJ Hospital. Meanwhile, a case of firing on the police has been registered against Akshay Shinde at the Mumbra Police Station of Thane district on Tuesday. In this case, Akshay Shinde has been accused of firing on police personnel Nilesh More before the encounter.

According to the police, on Monday, while being taken from Taloja jail to Badlapur, Akshay Shinde suddenly snatched the service revolver of the police and started firing. Akshay Shinde was injured by the bullet fired in self-defense by the policeman present in the van. After this, Akshay and the policeman were taken to Shivaji Hospital in Kalwa in an injured condition, but the doctors declared the accused Akshay Shinde dead, while the treatment of the injured policeman is going on.

Sanjay Shinde, who was present in the police van at that time, told reporters today that he was sitting next to the driver in the van but Akshay Shinde was abusing the policemen in the van. Policeman Nilesh More informed him about this on his mobile. After this, he stopped the police van and went inside the van and started convincing Akshay Shinde. Meanwhile, Akshay Shinde somehow snatched the service revolver of policeman Nilesh More. In this scuffle, a shot was fired suddenly, which hit Nilesh More. After snatching the revolver, Akshay Shinde fired two more shots, which did not hit anyone. Sanjay Shinde said that after this he fired a shot in self-defense, due to which Akshay Shinde got injured. After this, Akshay Shinde and Nilesh More were immediately taken to Kalwa Hospital, but the doctors declared Akshay Shinde dead. Policeman Nilesh More, who was injured in this incident, was being treated at Kalwa Hospital, today he has been shifted to Jupiter Hospital in Thane.
