Relations between India and Canada are on the verge of breaking. Relations between the two countries have soured after India recalled its High Commissioner to Canada and expelled six Canadian diplomats. The effect of which will be seen on the students studying in Canada. Canada has already doubled the GIC of students going on study visas.
A year ago a GIC (Guaranteed Investment Certificate) was about $10,200. A student will have to pay approximately $20,650. Gradually the interest of the youth in going to Canada is also decreasing.
Due to the ongoing tension between the two countries, the Canadian government is taking time to issue visas. Earlier it used to take ten to twenty days to get a study visa. Now it is taking two to three months.
Visitor visa is also taking time
Talking about visitor visa, the visa used to come within a month. Now it is taking 112 days. If tensions increase, it may take longer to obtain study and visitor visas. Every year more than three lakh students from India go to Canada to study on study visa.
