Ranchi, September 5 (HS). BJP state president Babulal Marandi has written a letter to Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday. In the letter, the Chief Minister has been requested to seriously consider the demands of the Panchayat representatives.
He has said that Gram Sabha is the pillar of democracy but the government has seized its rights. Panchayat elections were pending for 32 years from the time of united Bihar, which were conducted in the previous BJP government and rights were given to the Panchayats. Today, despite being elected public representatives, their rights have been snatched away. The situation is that the decisions related to the rights of Panchayats are also being taken by the officials sitting in the district. Decisions related to Pradhan Mantri Awas, Abua Awas, sand ghat auction, rural haat bazaar are not being taken by Gram Sabha and Panchayat Samiti but at the district level.
He said that the state government does not believe in the democratic system. Today, the result of this is that the representatives of the Gram Panchayat, Mukhiya, Panchayat Secretary, Jal Sahia, Divyang are sitting on a dharna near the Raj Bhawan under the banner of their respective organizations. Teachers and computer operators are also protesting. The beneficiaries of the schemes approved and implemented for years are wandering from door to door. They are being forced to stage dharna. The intention of the state government does not seem to be public welfare.
Babulal Marandi has written that when I met the protesters sitting at the dharna site, I felt that the government has no intention of solving their problems. If it had, the government could have fulfilled their legitimate demands immediately. I am attaching the demand letters of various organizations sitting on the dharna with the letter. You are requested to definitely consider this serious matter in public interest.
